Objectively Awful Things Elena Taber Has Actually Done

With Sources

Elena Setareh Taber is known to be a travel and lifestyle influencer. Through the years she has been caught up in several controversies. Some not nearly as bad as others. Some more speculation than fact. Here I have compiled, with as many sources as possible, the most outrageous and downright terrible things that Elena Taber has (allegedly) or factually done.

The 9/11 Fit Check:

Two years ago, Elena Taber posted an IG story where she is doing a fit check in front of the 9/11 Memorial in New York City. For those unfamiliar with what a fit check is, that is where an influencer shows off whatever outfit they are currently wearing as a fashion statement. As one might guess, this was found extremely tone deaf and tasteless to do right outside of the 9/11 memorial. This is not mere speculation; this actually happened, and there is proof. [Source] The backlash for this was intense, though unfortunately not intense enough for her to be cancelled or suffer much damage. Elena never made any comments about this, never acknowledged it, and never attempted to apologize for her actions.

Elena Taber Promotes Disordered Eating: On the topic of Elena Taber's eating habits, there are bits that are speculation and bits that are factual. The truth usually is somewhere in the middle, but that's what happens when you are living in the age of social media and influencers. This article [Source] points out Elena Taber's disordered eating and how it is promoted on YouTube in a misleading way. Shortly after criticism appeared for this behavior, which was mostly seen in her What I Eat In A Day videos on YouTube, Elena stopped making those videos. Though this is not absolute proof that she has an eating disorder or ever was promoting disordered eating behavior, it is at least circumstantial.

Elena Taber Is Hiding Her Privilege: One of the loudest criticisms that Elena Taber faces is her undisclosed affluent privilege. Elena loves to sell herself as a "self-made business woman," and when questioned, she will say that she earned everything herself, built her own image/brand herself, and that it has nothing to do with the money and connections that her parents are well known to have. The truth of the matter is that Elena Taber only found a small following due to a somewhat viral video of her living in a lavish beach house while she attended college. A beach house her parents paid for. This gained her enough of a following for her to believe herself to be an influencer, but it is known by just about everyone that her funding comes from her family. Not her hard work. Not brand deals. Not YouTube AdSense. She is very well known to get incredibly defensive about this when it is pointed out, and will always claim she "did it by herself" even though every shred of evidence says otherwise. The problem is that she is trying to sell an attainable lifestyle and dream that is completely unattainable if you don't have the kind of money and support that she has. [Source]

Elena Taber Using Clickbait Titles & Thumbnails: Taber has been accused of using deceptive video titles and thumbnails to attract views. For example, a video titled "days in my life as a student in paris | living alone diaries" implied she was a full university student, but people say she was only enrolled in a short-term language course (e.g., through platforms like Babbel, which she promotes heavily, indicating possible sponsorship or an attempt to get one). People may argue this misleads viewers, especially since such courses can be a loophole for wealthy individuals to extend stays abroad beyond tourist visas. [Source]

Elena Taber, using boyfriend Jamie Campbell Bower, For Clout: One of the most obnoxious and recent problematic behaviors of Elena's is the fact that she was (and to some extent still tries to) using her connections to Jamie Campbell Bower (famous for Twilight, Mortal Instruments, and Stranger Things) as engagement bait and a content farm across her Instagram and TikTok accounts. Even to the point where he is visibly annoyed. She has exploited his image, taken pictures of him to use that are not clear if he consented to them being taken (such as the back of his head in many shots), and even removed a video where he was obviously annoyed with her after she was called out on him looking annoyed at her. One particularly horrible move was a photo dump of her with Jamie to promote a sale she was having on her Vinted account. A sale that happened to be on the same day as Jamie's new music single drop. It was quite apparent that she was attempting to use traffic from his account to get traffic to her account for the sale. Only when called out on this did she move the sale to a day later. As of now, it is unknown if they have broken up or not, but thanks to this uncertainty and the split never being made official, Elena continues to try to capitalize on what Jamie Bower's stans perceive as a romantic connection between the two by dropping not-so-subtle hints in her IG stories and obsessively liking any post that he makes on Instagram.

Elena Taber Is A Bully:  The most recent controversy (and by far the worst) was when Elena was caught posting about herself on Reddit. Within this Reddit thread, she attempted to act like she was not herself, but a fan of herself, and asked about her and Jamie Bower's relationship. Unfortunately for her, she left a link in the post that led back to her own TikTok account, and when called out on this, she deleted the thread. What she didn't know was that there were ways to look back at everything else she had ever posted on Reddit, and it soon came to light that she was in a lot of snark threads herself, shitting all over her friends (and fellow influencers). Not only that, but in the original thread that she posted on Reddit, she openly said that dating Jamie Bower was "like hell on Earth". Despite this event getting major media coverage from outlets such as the New York Post and The Daily Mail, Taber has yet to apologize, acknowledge, or comment on this behavior. In fact, she continues on her "influencer life" on Instagram as if nothing at all happened. As for Jamie Bower, it is unknown if he is still with her or not. Since the Reddit post dropped,  he had been ghosting her but was recently seen with her at an event where they ended up being photographed together. It was only after this that he started to like her Instagram posts again, after months of avoiding her, drawing into question his own character.  As of writing this post, neither has publicly addressed this situation.

In Conclusion: Over the years, Elena Taber has displayed more than enough objectively poor judgment and behavior to speculate that she is not a good person. There is even significant evidence that her "career" as an influencer isn't as genuine as it has been manufactured over the past decade by her purchasing engagement for platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. However, that is just speculation (with circumstantial evidence) and a topic to address at another time.
